Whitney – Back to the Wind

Whitney returns with “Back to the Wind,” the third single from their upcoming album “Small Talk.” The track showcases the Chicago duo’s evolution while staying true to their warm, soulful sound that made them indie darlings.

Julien Ehrlich and Max Kakacek recorded “Small Talk” without a producer this time, inviting friends to contribute parts. Ehrlich calls “Back to the Wind” the first song they wrote for the record, noting how it pushed them to explore deeper lyrically. “In the past we’ve always insisted that each word on a lyric sheet so deliberately leads you back to the sentiment of the hook,” he explains. This track takes a different approach, letting imagery unfold more openly.

The song arrives with a skate video directed by Alex Pennacchia, matching the track’s breezy but building energy.

“Small Talk” drops November 7th via AWAL, marking their fifth studio album.
